Yzerman to Call Gretzky About The Olympics

As I’m sure you already know, Wayne Gretzky resigned as the head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes earlier this week which has left a lot of people wondering about his plans for the future.  While it’s true that the Coyotes didn’t exactly flourish under his watch, Gretzky really is an ambassador for the sport and it’s great having him around.
Steve Yzerman, who is now the executive director of Hockey Canada as well as the vice president of the Detroit Red Wings, has said that he is hoping to talk to The Great One about his experiences at the Olympics …read more

Gretzky Quits As Phoenix Coyotes Coach

Well, it’s finally happened after a summer of speculation.  Wayne Gretzky is stepping down as the head coach and director of hockey operations of the Phoenix Coyotes.  I know that it’s probably best for the team since The Great One isn’t the best coach but it’s still a little sad.
Gretzky feels that it’s time to move on and was hoping, as the team’s managing partner, that the bankruptcy proceedings would have been finished by now.  I thought it would be decided by now as well and it’s pretty frustrating that the team is just hanging there waiting for the other …read more

Gretzky Steps Away From Canada’s 2010 Olympic Hockey Team

In a move that brings me great relief, Wayne Gretzky has made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that he will not be included in anything having to do with Canada’s Olympic Hockey Team for the 2010 Vancouver Games.  “I don’t know how many times I can say this,” Gretzky told reporters.  “I’m not involved.  I don’t plan on being involved.  I really enjoyed my time with Team Canada. I think it’s a privilege to be part of Team Canada. It was a great honour for me. And I loved it.  But I really felt stepping aside and having a new regime …read more

Edmonton Oilers Fans on Conan O’Brien

Late-night talk show host, Conan O’Brien, noticed a group of Canadians in his audience earlier this month and it turns out that they were Edmonton Oilers fans who were in town for a hockey game.  He joked that he was going to have to change his monologue to appeal to the Canadians in the audience.  He then proceeded with his originally planned joke about Canada which, ironically enough, ended with the mention of hockey legend, Wayne Gretzky.  One of the Oilers fans in the audience then stood up and showed that he was wearing a Gretzky jersey (talk about playing …read more
