Todd Bertuzzi Signs with the Calgary Flames!

Sweet geezus. I’m sorry. I try to keep my language somewhat neutral on this blog but that is the “safest” wording choice I can think of at the moment. I really don’t know what to say about Todd Bertuzzi joining the Calgary Flames. He’s been given a one-year, $1.95 million contract.
He’s a good player when he doesn’t cross the line or act too timidly. He’s clearly messed up from the whole Steve Moore hit (hasn’t been able to get back to the player he was before it happened and, no, that isn’t sympathy) and he’s also had all kinds of back problems.
Sure, if he plays clean and strong, he’s a real asset but I’m wondering if he’s going to be more of a liability than anything else.
Well, I’m going to trust captain, Jarome Iginla, who reportedly wanted him on the team. Anyone ever see the movie The Horse Whisperer? The horse’s spirit was broken and the right kind of support healed the horse even though he was still all scabby and ugly. I don’t know why, but I’m thinking about that movie right now… (yeah, go ahead an laugh, lol).
