I know Jordin Tootoo’s style of playing hockey isn’t for everyone but I actually really like the kid. He doesn’t get much play or attention but whenever he’s on the ice (and I’m watching a Nashville game), I can’t take my eyes off him. Well, I wish I had seen the game last night!!!
Tootoo wasn’t even on the ice for 4 minutes and he recorded a "Gordie Howe hat trick" with a goal, assist and a fight in the Nashville Predators’ 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
First, he Vernon Fiddler (Preds) won a faceoff and passed back to Tootoo, who, stationed above the right circle, took a wrist shot and beat goalie Jonas Hiller.
"That was a big faceoff win by Vern," Tootoo said. "He knows I can get the puck off pretty quickly, and fortunately I got the shot off quick enough."
Added Fiddler: "I told him to go behind me. That was a play we were trying to do, and he made a great shot."
Then, five minutes later, Tootoo fought Anaheim defenseman Joe DiPenta.
In the second period, Tootoo was credited with an assist when Ryan Suter put the Predators ahead 3-0.
In the end, Tootoo he was credited with just 3:45 of ice time. Talk about making the most of every minute!
