Melrose talks about hockey in the western conference and since I actually get to see most of these games I feel more like I can comment on what he was saying (plus, I agreed with his eastern conference summation – see below). Here’s a quick overview of his discussion:

Okay, here’s what I think. I’m never impressed by the Red Wings being in first because of the teams they regularly play in their division. I’m not trying to be mean but the Central Division is probably the least competitive in the league. That’s all I’m saying…
As for the recent slide from the Vancouver Canucks that the video mentions, I can’t help but think that the team relies too heavily on Roberto Luongo. Oddly enough, I have had arguments with Canucks fans in the past about the Flames doing that very thing with Miikka Kiprusoff and now that Kipper is basically playing like ass, I can happily say that the Flames’ success is the result of a collaborative effort. I don’t know how I feel about Canucks coach’s decision to give the Sedin twins less ice time (to bulk up the defensive play to compensate for Luongo’s slump). You gotta score to win, right? I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

Holy smokes! Thanks for that article. That is some crazy shiz! What has the NHL turned in to???
hey jeanne.. i just want to bring attention to the record the red wings have outside their division… it looks like most of their losses come from inside their division.. at one point they were 25-1-1 against the rest of the nhl this season… looks like they are the real deal
