Brett Gardner Walkoff Hit Lifts Yankees – Video

August 16, 2008 by Stephen Kersey

Brett Gardner is making it a habit of getting walkoff hits for the Yankees. Against the Kansas City Royals, Gardner hit a single in the bottom of the 13th inning to score Robinson Cano and secure the win for the Yankees.

While Gardner may have a knack for getting timely hits, he isn’t having a great rookie season for the Yankees. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .176 with eight RBIs in 63 at bats. Despite the ugly stats, New York could definitely use a player who produces when the pressure is on.

Even with the win, the Yankees are 9.5 games behind the AL West leading Tampa Bay Rays and 6 games behind the Boston Red Sox.

Here is a video of the Brett Gardner hit.
