For the third time, Joba Chamberlain’s hearing in Nebraska has been delayed. Chamberlain is due in front of a judge after being charged with drunken driving after an Oct. 18 arrest in the city of Lincoln. The New York Yankees pitcher was also charged with having an open container of alcohol.

The latest delay calls for Chamberlain to appear in court on Mar. 31. In both December and January, his lawyers asked for and received delays of the hearing.
Last season with the Yankees, the 23-year-old once again exhibited great promise. Splitting his time between the starting rotation and the bullpen, Chamberlain had a 2.60 ERA to go along with a 4-3 record. In 2009, the native of Nebraska is expected to join the starting rotation on a full-time basis.
Since this is his first drunken driving charge, Chamberlain isn’t expected to receive jail time. According to reports, his blood alcohol level was more than one and half times the legal limits at the time of his arrest.
