Chipper Jones Injury – Freak Accident

June 13, 2008 by Stephen Kersey

Chipper Jones, who we at KnuckleCurve just named baseball hottest hitter yesterday, was injured when taking batting practice. In a freak accident, Jones fouled off a pitch but then the ball hit off the batting cage and hit him in the eye. Jones suffered an eye contusion and was scratched from the lineup.

The good news is that Jones went to the hospital and his x-rays and CT scans were negative. The Atlanta Braves are calling it an eye contusion at the moment. There is no word on how long he will be sidelined.

On the season, Jones has been phenomenal. He’s hitting .414 with 15 homers, 41 RBIs and 44 runs scored. The 36-year-old third baseman is on pace to have the best season of his career.
