Comeback Players of the Year

I can’t find this anywhere online yet, but the ESPN2 ticker reports that White Sox DH Jim Thome and Dodger 1B Nomar Garciaparra have been named comeback players of the year in the AL and NL, respectively. I like the pick of Thome over Oakland’s Frank Thomas. Both had great seasons, but Thome’s was a little better.

As for the NL, I think the Cardinals’ Scott Rolen got robbed. He had a little better offensive season than Garciaparra and played a much more demanding defensive position. He also didn’t miss 40 games due to injury.
