Cromartie Wins Wrestling Debut

Former Montreal Expos outfielder Warren Cromartie made his pro wrestling debut June 18. The lefty swinging outfielder, who collected more than 1100 base hits in the big leagues and enjoyed several fine seasons playing in Japan, defeated 63-year-old Tiger Jeet Singh in his first match.

Cromartie wore a baseball uniform and brandished a metal folding chair. Cromartie’s choice of weapon wouldn’t seem to be in the same class as Singh’s trademark sword, but the world is full of surprises.

Singh, meanwhile, had some choice words for his opponent prior to the match:

Pro wrestling is a vicious game, a dangerous game. He should stick to baseball. I’ll teach him a lesson once and for all.

Of course, these comments came before Cromartie’s victory. No word on whether Singh has changed his tune since being reminded that the folding chair is mightier than the sword.
