According the the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers have re-signed closer Takashi Saito to a 1-year deal worth $1 million, with incentives that could bring the total to $1.3 million. Saito, who turns 37 in April, saved 24 games and posted a 2.07 ERA over 78 1/3 innings in his first big-league season.
With all the fanfare surrounding Daisuke Matsuzaka this winter, and with the outrageous sums of money being tossed at mediocre relievers, it looks like the Dodgers jumped into the Japanese market at the right time. This is an absolute steal of a deal.
