Catchers at that age are extremely risky, but a similar arrangement worked well with Mike Piazza in '06. FWIW, I actually think Bard is a decent starter, in a Johnny Estrada kind of way. The only thing is, the Yanks will more than likely resign him in the off season. What would you think of Posada wearing Friar Colors? I mean more than likely the Pads wont re-sign Barrett and is Bard really a full time option? Or would it be risky signing a catcher going into year 36?
