Giants Sign Klesko

Ryan KleskoThe San Francisco Giants have signed left-handed hitter Ryan Klesko to a 1-year deal reportedly worth $1.75 million (that’s what ESPN’s Free Agent Tracker says, so we’ll go with it). Klesko missed almost all of 2006 due to a shoulder injury.

Klesko turns 36 in June and hasn’t played a game in the field since 2005, when he primarily patrolled left field for the San Diego Padres (more on his accomplishments with the Padres at Ducksnorts). He also has played a lot of first base over the years, but isn’t adept at either position and probably belongs in the American League as a DH at this stage in his career.
