Jake Westbrook Injured – Out for the Season

Jake Westbrook will need surgery on his elbow and will miss the rest of the season. The right-handed Cleveland Indians starter has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow.

jake westbrook indians injuryWestbrook was having a very good season for the Indians. Before his injury, he had a 3.12 ERA with 19 strikeouts over the span of five starts. In his second start of the season, Westbrook threw a complete game to pickup his only win of the year.

With Westbrook gone, the Indians will turn to Jeremy Sowers as the new starter. The 25-year-old Sowers as a 5.23 ERA in two starts this season.

Currently, the Indians are 28-34 and are in third place in the AL Central. Cleveland is 7.5 games behind the division leading Chicago White Sox.
