I am totally missing something. I coach a 9-10 year old developmental team. My son is 9 years old and a pitcher. I have clocked my son at 52 mph. He is a bit out of congtrol at these speeds, so his regular pitch is about 48 mph and extremely accurate. My son although very good, is not the hardest pitcher in the league, or on his own team for that matter.

I’ll bet there are 9 year olds in every league in America that can throw 40 +. I am obviously missing something.

It should be noted that New Haven Liga Juvenil de Baseball is not affiliated with Little League Baseball, Inc. It is an independent developmental league not associated with any national organization. There have been stories in numerous newspapers, and discussions in national radio and television shows, that erroneously cite “Little League.”

Let him play, he is gifted. Are we teaching our kids they should only be mediocre and not to try their best? Is too bad the opposing team forfeited, because that is teaching kids to quit and not even try. What if Tiger Woods was told this when he was Jericho’s age? Is too bad this is happening in America.

What a privilege it would be to play against him. Just think if your 9 year old could get a hit off Jericho even after trying many times. It would be something your child would remember and feel proud of for many, many years.
