Opposite of Choke Sign: Rogers, Tigers Win Again

Remember when Kenny Rogers wasn’t clutch? Yeah, me neither. He and the Detroit Tigers dominated the Oakland A’s in Game 3 of the ALCS at Comerica Park on Friday afternoon, winning 3-0.
Rogers limited Oakland to two hits over 7 1/3 innings and the bullpen did the rest. Great win for the Tigers and the city of Detroit. Hard to believe this is the same team that lost 90+ games in each of the past five seasons and eight of the last ten.

In grade school, we got to watch the 68 tigers in the world series against the Cards. We all thought there would be many other world series. We were wrong. Detroit has needed the Tigers to come back and be respectable for a long time.
It really is great to see the Tigers doing so well. My only regret is that San Diegan Alan Trammell isn’t there to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
All of us in Michigan thought when Tram, Gibby, and Parrish hooked up, that the heroes of 84 would bring back the Tigers. Illitch gave them very little money to work with, though, and it never panned out.
I remember when he was not clutch! 1999 NLCS, Game 6! He is a gutless chump forever!
