Red Sox Sign Cora

November 29, 2006 by Geoff Young

Alex Cora doesn’t hit or play defense well enough to a big-league starter, but the Boston Red Sox have re-signed him to a 2-year, $4 million contract. Cora batted .238/.312/.298 in 264 plate appearances for the Red Sox in 2006, and is a career .244/.310/.344 hitter over parts of nine seasons.

If you could pay $3 for a generic box of staples or $15 for an identical box of staples with a brand name slapped on the side, which would you choose? I’d buy the generic staples and spend the difference on a better stapler, but that’s just me.
