Shawn Chacon Throws Astros GM – Suspended

June 25, 2008 by Stephen Kersey

Shawn Chacon of the Houston Astros reportedly grabbed and then threw Houston Astros general manager Ed Wade to the ground during an argument. Chacon was reportedly upset that the Astros had decided to send him to the bullpen and the two clashed while Chacon was eating.

The bad news for Chacon is that his toss of Wade was his first good throw in a while. After starting the season relatively well, Chacon struggled recently and now has an ERA of 5.04 to go with his 2-3 record.

The Astros announced that Chacon was suspended indefinitely due to “insubordination”. You can expect the Astros to either trade or release Chacon in the upcoming games. Seeing how Chacon treated his last general manager, it will probably be hard for Wade to find another GM willing to take him on.

Somewhere Latrell Sprewell is shaking his head while trying to support his family.

What an idiot. Go to the ‘pen, work on the mechanics, get your head straight and prove you can help your team for pete’s sake. Throwing the GM to the ground is not the best way to handle a pitching slump.
