Geremi Gonzalez, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, was killed following a lightning strike in Venezuela. Gonzalez, who was originally from Venezuela, was only 33.
Gonzalez spent parts of six seasons in the majors. He best seasons came in 1997 in his rookie year as a member of the Chicago Cubs. That season, Gonzalez went 11-9 with a 4.25 ERA.
