In his first game, Bruce went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs and two RBIs. The Reds, riding Bruce’s hot bat, beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-6. Reds teammates and coaches said that was one of the best debut’s they have ever seen.

In Bruce’s second game, he was again impressive. In game number two of his career, he was 1-for-3 with two walks and one run scored. The Reds won again — this time 9-1 against the Pirates.

Currently, the Reds outfield isn’t producing much at the plate. Ken Griffey, Jr., Adam Dunn and Corey Patterson are each batting less than .255. The 21-year-old Bruce will be given a shot to earn an everyday spot in the lineup. Patterson, who is hitting around the Mendoza line, seems to be the most likely one to be the odd man out.

In the minor leagues, Bruce is hitting .364 at Triple-A. He was drafted in the first round by the Reds with the 12th overall selection in 2005. It’s long be known that Bruce is Cincinnati’s outfielder of the future. Apparently, that future begins on Tuesday.
