Carlos Delgado to have Hip Surgery

Last season, Carlos Delgado was a bright spot for the New York Mets. Now, the Mets will likely have to try to win without Delgado for the next few months after it was learned that the hobbled slugger will require arthroscopic surgery on his right hip.

Puerto Rico Destroys the U.S. in WBC 2009

The United States recently lost a game to Venezuela in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Against Puerto Rico, the United States didn’t just lose — they got destroyed. When all was said and done, Puerto Rico had won 11-1 after the mercy rule came into play.
Carlos Beltran and Felipe Lopez hit homeruns for Puerto Rico, while Carlos Delgado had two RBIs and Ivan Rodriguez had three hits. Puerto Rico remains undefeated in the 2009 WBC.

Billy Wagner Criticizes Teammates – Again

Billy Wagner of the New York Mets, who never seems opposed to flapping his gums to the media, once again was criticized teammates after a game. Earlier this season, Wagner criticized Oliver Perez. On Thursday, Wagner criticized teammates who didn’t make themselves available to the media.
While Wagner didn’t name any names, he reportedly pointed in the direction where the lockers of Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado and Luis Castillo are located. Although those players all are Hispanic, Wagner denied his criticism being directed toward any one race.
