The Chicago White Sox have bought out the contract of Jermaine Dye for a little less than $1 million. As a result, Dye has become a free agent. The veteran outfielder will likely be one of the most sought after players in baseball free agency.
Last year, Dye didn’t live up to expectations with the White Sox. He hit only .250 with 27 homers and 81 RBIs. In 2008, he hit .292 with 34 homers and 96 RBIs.
Throughout Dye’s career he has had many ups and downs. When teams take a look at him during the offseason, he may land a …read more

Down 9-0 after four innings, the Boston Red Sox soon figured out that pulling out a win against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday wasn’t going to be possible. To save their short-handed bullpen, manager Terry Francona turned to shortstop Nick Green to pitch the final two innings for the Red Sox.
And all things considered, Green ended up doing a great job. In his two innings of work, he walked three but gave up no hits and no runs. After the ballgame, Green said he hadn’t pitched in nearly a dozen years. The last time the 30-year-old pitched was in …read more

Ken Williams, the general manager of the Chicago White Sox, isn’t known for biting his tongue. On Monday, he talked about how upset he is with his team.
Said Williams: “We’ve thrown away a dozen games that way this year. We’ve deserved what we’ve got. I’m not happy. I’m not happy with a lot of what I see, we’re underachievers, period.”
On the season, the White Sox are 61-58. In the AL Central, they trail the Detroit Tigers by two games. Manager Ozzie Guillen agreed with Williams’ assessment.

The Toronto Blue Jays recently placed Alex Rios on waivers. The Chicago White Sox pounced on the young outfielder. On Monday, the White Sox officially acquired him when the Blue Jays decided to let Rios go.
Although Toronto had a chance to reclaim Rios, the fact that he’s owed more than $60 on his contract helped the Blue Jays decide to shed the salary. On the season, Rios is hitting .264 with 14 homers and 62 RBIs. He also has 19 stolen bases and 52 runs scored.
With the White Sox, he will make Chicago a better team. He’ll get a lot …read more

About two years ago, Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox pitched a no-hitter. On Thursday, he topped that feat. Against the Tampa Bay Rays, Buehrle was perfect. Literally.
Buehrle’s perfect game was the 18th perfect game in the history of the game. What will be remembered most, besides the perfect game itself, will be the incredible play that Dewayne Wise made in center field to save the day.
In the ninth inning, Wise sprinted to the wall, jumped and robbed Gabe Kapler of a home run. In one play, Wise saved Buehrle’s perfect game, no-hitter and shutout. A video of the …read more

The San Diego Padres agreed to trade Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox. However, Peavy had the final say in the matter since he had a no trade clause in his contract. After deliberating about the potential move, Peavy decided to reject the trade and stay with the Padres.
The White Sox undoubtedly have to be depressed by Peavy’s decision. They desperately need an improvement in their starting pitching and he would have definitely made the team better. It has to hurt even more considering that the Minnesota Twins had just scored 20 runs against the White Sox.
