Atlanta Braves Making Wild Card Push

Not long ago, the Atlanta Braves appeared to be out of the NL Wild Card race. Now, after seven straight wins, the Braves are right in the thick of things. They trail the Colorado Rockies by only two games for the Wild Card playoff berth.
Monday’s win came against the Florida Marlins. Winners by a final score of 4-0, the Braves got five strong innings out of starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens. Jurrjens went seven innings and gave up only five hits and one walk to improve his record to 14-10 and lower his ERA to 2.61.

Chipper Jones Injury Update – Braves Injury

Chipper Jones is having a great yet injury filled season. However, it appears as if Jones will be able to return to the lineup on Friday as a DH. He had been sidelined with a quadriceps injury.
On the season, Jones has a .394 batting average with 16 homers and 46 RBIs. He was batting over .400 until recently but he remains one of the hottest hitters in baseball.
This quadriceps injury has bothered Jones for much of the season. Additionally, Jones got injured in a freak accident involving a batting cage.

Chipper Jones Injury – Freak Accident

Chipper Jones, who we at KnuckleCurve just named baseball hottest hitter yesterday, was injured when taking batting practice. In a freak accident, Jones fouled off a pitch but then the ball hit off the batting cage and hit him in the eye. Jones suffered an eye contusion and was scratched from the lineup.
The good news is that Jones went to the hospital and his x-rays and CT scans were negative. The Atlanta Braves are calling it an eye contusion at the moment. There is no word on how long he will be sidelined.
