Curtis Granderson Traded to the Yankees

The New York Yankees are coming off of yet another World Series championship. To celebrate, they made the first big move of the winter meetings. In a three-team deal, the Yankees were able to land Curtis Granderson from the Detroit Tigers.
Granderson is a left-handed hitter who is especially good against righties. The 28-year-old hit .249 last season with 30 homers, 71 RBIs, 91 runs and 20 stolen bases. While he set a career-high in homers, his batting average was a bit of a disappointment. The previous two seasons, Granderson hit .280 and .302, respectively.

How did the Tigers go from MLB doormat to model organization without any real transition? They draft aggressively, pay for external talent where needed, and are fearless in trading. Oh, and they win a lot.
Detroit’s latest move is to lock up center fielder Curtis Granderson for 5 years in a deal reportedly worth $30.25 million. Granderson is coming off a .302/.361/.552 campaign and turns 27 in March.
