While Maddux doesn’t still have his Cy Young stuff, he’s still a pretty darn decent pitcher. In 26 starts this year for the Padres, Maddux has a 3.99 ERA with a WHIP of 1.22. Although he has a 6-9 record, he has pitched better than his wins and losses indicate.

The long rumored Greg Maddux trade finally went through. The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers struck a deal that will send the future Hall of Famer from San Diego north to L.A.

With the Dodgers, Maddux will go to a much better team that has a legitimate shot to make the playoffs. Maddux, who was a Dodger just a few years ago, will give the team a much needed reliable arm and a team leader.

Maddux ending up with the Padres is no real surprise. In fact, we listed the Dodgers as the most likely destination when Maddux’s name first started to appear in trade rumors.

In trading the 42-year-old Maddux, the Padres will reportedly get two players in return. The identities of those two players isn’t known at the moment.

Greg Maddux should be much happier now that he’s on a winning team.

Even though the baseball trade deadline has come and gone, that doesn’t mean the trading has ended. In fact, expect to see plenty of more deals before all is said and done. Waiver trades have been common in the last decade.
Who will be traded? There are a number of possibilities but the biggest name is Greg Maddux. Maddux, who is one of the best pitchers the game of baseball has ever seen, has stated a desire to either stay with the San Diego Padres or be traded to a team on the West Coast. Maddux, who is one of the best pitchers the game of baseball has ever seen, has stated a desire to either stay with the San Diego Padres or be traded to a team on the West Coast. Where are the Greg Maddux likely destinations?

Let’s take a look . . .

San Diego Padres – If you are a betting man, bet that Maddux will stay in San Diego.

Los Angeles Dodgers – If Maddux gets traded, look for him to end up with the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Angels – The Angels are on the West Coast and could use a pitcher for a World Series run.

New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox – You can never count out the Yankees or Red Sox in any trade. Even though Maddux says he’s not interested, you never know.
