“He’s quite fine,” said Michael Ciccotti to MLB.com, the team’s physician. “He’s walking. He’s eating. He’s completely comfortable and fine.”

After a fantastic 2008 campaign, Moyer wasn’t as sharp in 2009. He had a 4.94 ERA with a record of 12-10. Following Philadelphia’s signing of Pedro Martinez, Moyer was moved to the bullpen.

The 47-year-old Moyer is the older player in all of baseball. He’s under contract for next season. That said, these latest medical issues have to put his baseball future under question. The team still insists that Moyer should be ready for spring training, however a retirement announcement wouldn’t be too surprising.

After shoring up their bullpen by signing Francisco Rodriguez and trading for JJ Putz, the Mets now are looking to bolster their starting pitcher. Their main target at the moment appears to be Lowe — and they are willing to pay top dollar.

Where will the right-handed starting pitcher end up? Here are the top Derek Lowe destinations based on the latest rumors.

New York Mets
After shoring up their bullpen by signing Francisco Rodriguez and trading for JJ Putz, the Mets now are looking to bolster their starting pitcher. Their main target at the moment appears to be Lowe — and they are willing to pay top dollar.

Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox still have a lot of money to spend in free agency and acquiring Lowe appears to be one of their options. The Red Sox have a good group of starting pitching but Lowe could step in and add even more veteran leadership and a clutch arm. It can’t hurt that Lowe pitched seven and a half years for Boston earlier in his career.

Philadelphia Phillies
Last season, the Phillies won the World Series despite not having great depth in their starting rotation. Adding Lowe would be huge for Philadelphia, especially considering that one of the pitchers they depend on is Jamie Moyer — who is 46 years old.

Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are still hoping they will be able to hang onto Lowe. Although it will be difficult due to all the interested teams with deep pockets, the Dodgers will undoubtedly make Lowe a good offer before he inks a contract elsewhere.

After giving up another run in the second inning, starting pitcher Jamie Moyer was pulled for Philadelphia. All told, Moyer gave up six earned runs in less than two innings.

On the opposing mound, Hiroki Kuroda had another good postseason start for the Dodgers. The native of Japan gave up two earned runs in six innings of work while striking out three batters.

At the plate, the Dodgers had a number of stars including Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez. Furcal was 2-4 with two runs, an RBI and a homer. Ramirez was 1-2 with two walks, two run and an RBI.

Here is a Los Angeles Dodgers video of their Game 3 win over the Phillies:

As Moyer rounds first to head to second, an umpire gets in his way. Instead of going around the ump, he pushes the ump to the ground. The Pirates then throw the ball away again, allowing Moyer to get to third. A few pitches later, Moyer scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.
