Jed Lowrie Undergoes Wrist Surgery

Jed Lowrie, who begin the season as the starting shortstop for the Boston Red Sox, underwent surgery on his left wrist. The surgery took place on Tuesday and the 25-year-old will likely be out for at least six weeks.
The surgery was needed to repair cartilage in his wrist. To begin the season, Lowrie was 1-for-18 at the plate with eight strikeouts. After his slow start, he decided to have his wrist repaired. Lowrie originally hurt it last season.

Red Sox and Rays Video Preview – Playoffs

On Monday, both the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays advanced in the American League playoffs. The two AL East teams will now play each other, with the Rays having home field advantage in the best of seven series.
To advance, the Red Sox got a big hit from rookie Jed Lowrie. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Lowrie delivered a series winning single against the Los Angeles Angels to end the game. Scoring the winning run was Jason Bay as the Red Sox won 3-2.
