If you missed Tuesday’s game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays, you missed a noteworthy brawl. For a video of the brawl, check the end of this entry.
The two main characters in the brawl were New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada and Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jesse Carlson. In the eighth inning, Carlson through a pitch behind Posada after two Blue Jays were hit by pitches.
The fireworks really went off in the eighth when Posada scored and bumped Carlson after crossing the plate. That bump cleared both benches and created a relatively physical brawl.

A.J. Burnett Dominant Against Mets

When the New York Yankees gave A.J. Burnett a big contract in the offseason, this was the type of production they wanted. On Saturday against the New York Mets, Burnett gave up only one hit in seven innings while striking out ten. His pitching effort led the Yankees to a 5-0 victory.

Jorge Posada Injury Update – Surgery?

Jorge Posada is hurting again. Earlier in the season, Posada battled a shoulder injury — and he has yet to completely heal. Now there is serious talk that Posada may require season-ending surgery.
Part of the issue involving Posada is his insistence that he play catcher. The New York Yankees have played him at first base and designated hitter, but Posada wants to remain a catcher. With a painful and weakened shoulder, that is a difficult position for Posada to play.

Jorge Posada Injury Update

New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada is getting closer and closer to returning to the field. Posada played in an extended spring training game and caught five innings. Although Posada went 0-for-5 at the plate, the more important news is that he’s catching once again.
Hitting wasn’t Posada’s problem when he went to the DL. Posada was batting .302 before being shelved. Posada’s problem was catching – specifically, Posada experienced shoulder pain when throwing.

New York Yankees in Last Place – Solutions?

The Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees on Thursday to send the Yankees into last place. The Rays won the game 5-2 behind a strong pitching performance from Scott Kazmir and a two-run homerun by backup catcher Shawn Riggans.
The Yankees are now 20-22 and in last place in the AL East. The Rays, with a record of 24-17, are in first place.

Injury Update – New York Yankees

Alex Rodriguez
Suffering from a strained quadriceps, Alex Rodriguez has begun has rehab. Rodriguez, who hasn’t played a game in May, is currently rehabbing in Tampa, Florida. He’s taking batting practice, fielding grounders and doing a little bit of running. Rodriguez isn’t expected back this week but could be back the following week.

Jorge Posada, the veteran catcher for the Yankees, is battling a shoulder injury. It’s been determined that Posada won’t need season-ending surgery. He has begun throwing a baseball again. Once he’s comfortable throwing the ball, he’ll return to the lineup.

If you area fan of the New York Yankees, you got to be hoping that the injury bug won’t keep haunting the team all season. In recent days, three prime time players have gotten hurt.
Alex Rodriguez has a strained quadriceps and has now landed on the 15-day disabled list. The Yankees are being cautious with Rodriguez’s injury, however there’s a chance he could miss up to a month.
