Aroldis Chapman – Possible Destinations

Aroldis Chapman’s defection from Cuba made many Major League Baseball general managers very happy. The 21-year-old pitcher has a fastball that has been clocked at over 100 MPH. And to top it off, he’s a lefty.
After establishing residency in the tiny country of Andorra, Chapman is now a free agent. There has already been talk that a big league team may be interested in paying him upwards of $50 million. Which teams are possible destinations for Aroldis Chapman? Let’s take a look:
New York Yankees
The Yankees always like to spend money. Considering that starting pitching depth was their weakness this season, …read more

Yankees Headed to the World Series

The New York Yankees are headed back to the World Series. In Game 6, Andy Pettitte dominated on the mound and Alex Rodriguez had another memorable game as the Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels by a final count of 5-2.
The Angels actually got on the board first when Bobby Abreu hit an RBI single in the third inning. However, the Yankees got the lead for good in the fourth. Johnny Damon hit a two-run single and then Rodriguez drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Derek Jeter.
Pettitte pitched 6.1 innings and allowed only one earned run while …read more

Angels Stay Alive Against Yankees

Although the Los Angeles Angels have looked dead in the water at some points in the ALCS against the New York Yankees, they keep fighting. On Thursday, the Angels rallied to beat the Yankees by a final count of 7-6.
In a ballgame full of bursts, the Angels struck first by scoring four times in the bottom of the first inning. The Yankees then put six runs on the board in the top of the seventh inning, however the Angels responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Torii Hunter, Vladimir Guerrero and Kendry Morales each had two RBIs …read more

Yankees Pound Angels, Take 3-1 Lead

A day after the Los Angeles Angels were able to climb out of an early hole, the New York Yankees put Game 4 of the ALCS away for good. After building a 5-0 lead after five innings, the Yankees went on to win by a final count of 10-1.
The two biggest stars for the Yankees were Alex Rodriguez and C.C. Sabathia. Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs and a walk. His big hit came in the form of a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Sabathia, pitching on short rest, was masterful once again. In eight innings, the hefty …read more

C.C. Sabathia Pitches Yankees Past Angels

The New York Yankees gave C.C. Sabathia a truck load of money to convince him to come to the Big Apple. On Friday, Sabathia showed the world why the Yankees wanted him so much as New York beat the Los Angeles Angels by a final count of 4-1.
In eight innings of work, Sabathia gave up four hits, one walk and one earned run while striking out seven. It was Sabathia second postseason win in two starts. Closer Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth inning to pick up the save.
To put runs on the board, the Yankees relied on Hideki Matsui, Alex …read more

Angels Set Pitching Rotation Versus Yankees

The Los Angeles Angels now know their starting pitchers for the first four games of their series against the New York Yankees. On Wednesday, manager Mike Scioscia said that John Lackey will pitch Game 1, Joe Saunders will pitch Game 2, Jered Weaver will pitch Game 3 and Scott Kazmir will pitch Game 4.
Lackey will face a lot of pressure in Game 1. If the Angels want to advance to the 2009 World Series, they will need to quiet the confidence that the Yankees currently hold. To do so, Los Angeles really needs to win the first game of the …read more

Yankees Thinking About Three-Man Rotation

Yankees Thinking About Three-Man Rotation

The New York Yankees have a problem. Although they have practically a billion dollar budget, the team doesn’t have a reliable fourth starter at the moment. However, manager Joe Girardi might have a solution — a three-man pitching rotation.
If the Yankees decide to go with the three-man rotation, the rotation will consist of C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettitte.
“We are definitely considering possibly going to a three-man rotation in this round,” said Girardi, “but we’ll have to take a look at it and see how it goes.”
The biggest risk of going with the three-man rotation is Sabathia’s health. The …read more

ALCS and NLCS Previews

With the ALDS and the NLDS in the books, it’s time to preview both the ALCS and the NLCS. In the ALCS, the New York Yankees take on the Los Angeles Angels. In the NLCS, the Los Angeles Dodgers will battle with the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies.
The ALCS should be extremely exciting. Both teams have very powerful lineups with a lot of star power. In fact, the Yankees and Angels ranked one and two in all of Major League Baseball in runs scored.
What will decide the ALCS? It will most likely come down to starting pitching. And though …read more

Red Sox On Brink of Elimination After Loss

Red Sox On Brink of Elimination After Loss

Heading into the 2009 baseball postseason, many experts predicted that the Boston Red Sox were ready to roll to another World Series title. Following a Game 2 loss against the Los Angeles Angels, that talk is all but dead. The Angels have a stranglehold on the series following Friday’s 4-1 victory.
For the second straight game, starting pitching was the key for the Angels. That fact is ironic considering that the Angels’ weakness all season long was supposedly their lack of starting pitching. Friday’s star was Jered Weaver, who went 7.1 innings while giving up only two hits, two walks and …read more
