During the baseball offseason, the man most likely to land the largest contract is none other than Matt Holliday. While Jason Bay may give him a run for his money, Holliday’s production and potential is likely to cause a team to open up their wallet — very wide.

Baseball Offseason Trades – Transactions Update

Mike Jacobs of the Florida Marlins traded to the Kansas City Royals for Leo Nunez
The Royals will hope that Jacobs can add some pop to their lineup, while Nunez should improve the bullpen of the Marlins
Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham of the Florida Marlins traded to the Washington Nationals for Emilio Bonifacio, P.J. Dean and Jake Smolinski
The Marlins were able to shed some salary and pick up a few decent prospects, while the Nationals added a good pitching prospect in Olsen and a good bat in Willingham.

Matt Holliday Traded to Oakland A’s

Matt Holliday, the slugging star on the Colorado Rockies, has been traded to the Oakland Athletics. According to various news reports, the trade is still being worked on but the agreement is in place.
In return for Holliday, the Rockies are said to be receiving a package that includes Greg Smith, Huston Street and Carlos Gonzalez. Greg Smith was a rookie starting pitcher in 2008, while Carlos Gonzalez was a rookie outfielder. Huston Street was the closer on opening day for the A’s.
