]]> Catcher Michael Barrett of the San Diego Padres had a painful at bat on Wednesday. Barrett swung at a 1-1 delivery from Colorado Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. The good news is Barrett hit the ball. The bad news is that the ball hit him in the nose.

Barrett immediately fell to the ground and medical personnel rushed out to check him out. He eventually got to his feet and was taken to a nearby hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that Barrett fractured his nose. How long Barrett will be out hasn’t been determined, however he is expected to go on the DL.
