The voters finally stopped screwing Goose Gossage. This business about Bruce Sutter paving the way for him is absolute garbage. Gossage came first and was a better pitcher.

Beck Dies at 38

Former big-league closer Rod Beck died on Saturday at age 38. I’d cite statistics, but that doesn’t tell you much about the man. He spent part of 2003 here in San Diego and was one of the few reasons to watch the Padres in an otherwise miserable season.
My condolences to the family and friends of Beck. He was taken from us far too soon, and his spirit will be missed.
