Jake Peavy Says No to the White Sox

The San Diego Padres agreed to trade Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox. However, Peavy had the final say in the matter since he had a no trade clause in his contract. After deliberating about the potential move, Peavy decided to reject the trade and stay with the Padres.
The White Sox undoubtedly have to be depressed by Peavy’s decision. They desperately need an improvement in their starting pitching and he would have definitely made the team better. It has to hurt even more considering that the Minnesota Twins had just scored 20 runs against the White Sox.

Jake Peavy Trade Rumors and Trade Updates

Depending on who you believe, San Diego Padres star pitcher Jake Peavy could be headed to the Chicago White Sox in what will be the first big baseball trade of the 2009 season. According to multiple reports, the Padres will receive multiple players in return including Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richards.
However, other sources indicate that the trade isn’t very close to happening. While a third commonly held opinion is that the Padres and White Sox have agreed on a deal and Peavy now has to decide whether or not accept the trade. Since Peavy has a no trade clause in …read more

Trevor Hoffman Signs with Brewers

Earlier this week, we labeled Trevor Hoffman as one of the top sleepers on the free agent market. The Milwaukee Brewers apparently agreed and they’ve signed the veteran closer to a deal worth a guaranteed $6 million. There are rumors that Hoffman could make more via bonuses and that there might be an optional second year to the contract.
At 41, Hoffman is somewhat a risk for the Brewers. But considering the fact that he’s one of the best closers in baseball history and the fact that he has at least 30 saves in his last 13 full seasons, it’s an …read more

Greg Maddux Traded to Dodgers – Trade Analysis

The long rumored Greg Maddux trade finally went through. The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers struck a deal that will send the future Hall of Famer from San Diego north to L.A.
While Maddux doesn’t still have his Cy Young stuff, he’s still a pretty darn decent pitcher. In 26 starts this year for the Padres, Maddux has a 3.99 ERA with a WHIP of 1.22. Although he has a 6-9 record, he has pitched better than his wins and losses indicate.
With the Dodgers, Maddux will go to a much better team that has a …read more

Greg Maddux Trade Destinations – Dodgers?

Even though the baseball trade deadline has come and gone, that doesn’t mean the trading has ended. In fact, expect to see plenty of more deals before all is said and done. Waiver trades have been common in the last decade.
Who will be traded? There are a number of possibilities but the biggest name is Greg Maddux. Maddux, who is one of the best pitchers the game of baseball has ever seen, has stated a desire to either stay with the San Diego Padres or be traded to a team on the West Coast. Where …read more

Michael Inoa to Athletics? Future A’s Star?

Michael Inoa is a 16-year-old pitcher from the Dominican Republic who has scouts salivating. Inoa, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 210 pounds, is reportedly drawing interest from a number of teams including the New York Yankees, the San Diego Padres and the Oakland Athletics. However, it is the Athletics who are said to have the inside track.
Inoa reportedly has a 93 MPH fastball to go with a developing curve and change-up. Scouts believe that he has the ability to add between 2 and 4 MPH to his fastball. That amount of upside is enough for Oakland’s …read more
