When reading media types like the one above (not Geoff of course ... the one he linked to) you're going to get the story that sells more. Which is, Manny is lazy, Manny doesn't care, Manny is stupid, etc. There are a couple of good articles on Manny's work habits that (I think) are a little more accurate. Of course, I don't know him either and I have no idea how smart he is. It's just my feeling that he is a lot more intelligent (and he cares a lot more) than it would seem. A showboat? Prolly. A little aloof? Maybe. Clueless/classless ... I don't think so. But it's just my opinion and I can see how others can get that feeling (and it may be true). To hit the ball like Manny has for this many years, you have to know what’s going on. Certainly watching him play the outfield makes you wonder if mentally he is all there. "Wow, that grass is green...wonder when I'll bat next....hey that ball is coming towards me, should I get it?" There's nothing wrong with getting caught up in the moment, but when the "moment" involves pulling your team to within four runs of the lead, well, that's stretching things a bit for my taste. He was back in Cleveland and hearing the boo birds, and it was the third homer in a row for Boston ... (as meaningless as that really was at the time) Would 99% of major leaguers have done that?
