I love sighs of relief, I’ve mentioned quite a few of them as of late on this blog…now I can breathe one of the biggest.

Arguably the heart of the entire Boston Red Sox team, David Ortiz, Big Papi, will be at home in Boston for at least the next 4 years.  Like D. Lee, Ortiz should also be smiling, he’ll be getting a reported $12 Million a year for the next 4 years.  Not too shabby.

Ortiz has been an American League All-Star the last two years in a row and hit 47 bombs last year.  Yeah, that’s pretty good.

A six year 60 million dollar contract will never result in a guy playing six years for 10 million a year. It’s just now these things work. Unlike in baseball where when a guy signs a 4 year 48 million dollar contract, he gets 12 million a year for four years of play. [...]
