A wee bit more about Dekaron, please

Although some online game fans in the Southeast Asian region know a lot about Dekaron (published as 2Moons in North America), a majority are still in the dark. Proof of this is the countless number of speculations doing the rounds of video game forums.

So I take it upon myself to open the curtains and give players a peek into this virtual world (at least until dme and mobiusgames opens the door for us *hint hint*). What I currently have isn’t much, just a brief history of Dekaron—the in-game version, not in real life. But I’m sure it’ll do for most of us hungry for a glimpse of something new.

Suspend your disbelief for the moment and let me take you on a journey back when Dekaron’s world of Trieste was born:

The birth of Trieste. In the beginning, there were Chaos and Cosmos. Chaos created “darkness,” while Cosmos made “light.” Cosmos established a balance in the universe by making “space,” while Chaos changed everything by calling in “time.” The repetition of Chaos and Cosmos brought a continuous creation. Then, on the final day, the two gathered their power to create Trieste, the immortal land, and the time of amazing creation finally stopped.

Personally, I find this story of creation quite amusing because I’m a big fan of fantasy adventure literature, such as the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms novels of Wizards of the Coast (formerly TSR).

Anyway, going back, you may want to know how different Trieste is from other virtual worlds. Here’s a brief description:

Two moons shine at night in Trieste, a large planet where days are 28 hours long and a week spans 12 days. The two moons have names of their own. The first moon is known as Miseria, the second is Ricchez. The two moons sometimes overlaps in the night sky. When this happens, and if Miseria covers Ricchez, it is said to be the worst day.

Somehow, that doesn’t sound right. So what does the game’s name, Dekaron, have to do with the history of Trieste? Simple. Since we’ve skipped a few, uhmm, chapters, you don’t know about the great war between gods and men, when the “wise man” Kalizio summoned monsters from the lower planes (read: hell and the abyss) to fight for them. Unfortunately, the monsters, led by the great demon Karon, had other ideas, such as destroying Trieste. In the end, Kalizio was successful in banishing Karon back to the hole from whence it came.

The result: a new war, this time between men and denizens of the lower planes, and Dekaron is precisely what humans need. You see, Dekaron means “resistance against Karon.”

More Dekaron gaming goodness in future posts! Stay tuned.
