Lucky Dawg! MMOtaku regular viewer Robert Sanchez, a.k.a. Alacarcalimo, has just bagged the top prize, a limited edition iPod Nano, in a Perfect World Philippines contest launched by publisher Level Up! Games.
It’s actually a blogging contest, and those who know Robert can attest to his love for both blogging and massively multiplayer online role-playing games. The contest is an event aimed at boosting awareness about Perfect World Philippines‘ latest update, Lost Empire.
Among the features introduced by the Lost Empire patch are new equipment to craft (there are four new furnaces at Ancient Heaven-Tear City on top of the ones in …read more

I’ve got to get this out before the link completely vanishes from the face of Atlantica Online’s official site. Yes, MMOtaku has been featured on the aforementioned website. Actually, it’s not a feature but an announcement pointing to a feature on EveryJoe’s MMOtaku.
If you’re an MMOtaku regular, you’d probably recall the article featuring the title buffs of Atlantica Online and how they affect gameplay and gaming experience in that virtual world. There’s an almost complete guide on Title Buffs on the My Atlantica Online forums.
Here’s a screenshot, for posterity, of MMOtaku’s brief stay in the limelight:

Yes! I’m finally back in the saddle. My apologies to MMOtaku readers. My frail health is getting the better of me. Health issues aside, I’m gearing up for a great week of online gaming, starting with the closed beta test of Rohan: Blood Feud in the Philippines.
As you’ve probably gleaned from the title, Rohan Online Philippines is set to begin its CBT on February 26, and partly due to the hype generated not only by Level Up! Games, publisher of the game, but also by bloggers who want a piece of the action, more and more players seem to be …read more

Yes, it’s a big thing, to answer that nagging question, “What’s the big deal with Aion coming out on top?”, doing the rounds of your noggin. Well, if the news means nothing to you, it simply means you don’t know about the friendly competition between online games developers in China and those in Asian MMORPG capital South Korea.
I remember publishing an article on MMOtaku that detailed an escalating industry “war” between massively multiplayer online games developers in the two countries.
Here’s an excerpt from that story:
Here’s old news that’s still relevant today: Korean MMOs are losing out in China. According to …read more

By the gaming gods! Is it true? Have five days already passed since I last posted? Apparently, yes. Whew! Time flies so fast when you’re having fun. Unfortunately, my five-day hiatus had not been even remotely fun.
Yes, you guessed it. The flu—at least I think it’s the flu—hit me right after New Year’s Eve, right in the middle of writing a Top Ten Asian MMORPGs of 2008 post. Don’t worry, I’ll finish the story … soon.
Right now, I’m just starting to recover. Of course, as a fanatic of massively multiplayer online role-playing games, there’s only one way for me to …read more
Merry Christmas, virtual worlds

I was supposed to write something witty for this screenshot, along the lines of “Even virtual worlds celebrate Christmas” or “Celebrating Christmas in Rohan” (since the screenie was taken from the online game Rohan: Blood Feud. Unfortunately, Christmas Day had forced me into a short hiatus.
There are a number of massively multiplayer online role-playing games that come out with Christmas patches, including, you guessed it, Rohan: Blood Feud, and Ragnarok Online and Fly For Fun. I’m sure there are others, and I’d love to list them down for you, but there’s a beautiful lady wielding a pretty mean candy cane …read more

The cat is out of the bag. I’ve been hearing about the impending closure in the Philippines of another massively multiplayer online role-playing game, and even had an inkling of what game it might be, for quite some time. I have, however, opted to shut out any rumor until such time that the game’s operator issues a statement.
Well now it’s official: Supreme Destiny Philippines is shutting down.
Without further ado, let me give you an excerpt from IP e-Games’ open letter to loyal players of Supreme Destiny:
Supreme Destiny has gone beyond the traditional high-fantasy online adventure game. It has transcended the …read more
