MMO Firm Raises Funds For Typhoon Victims

We interrupt MMOtaku’s regularly scheduled posts for a public service announcement. For those who are unaware, the Philippines has recently been hit hard by Typhoon Ondoy (international name Ketsana), claiming hundreds of lives and displacing hundreds of thousands of people. The tragedy has sparked in the hearts of Filipinos and various international communities the spirits of mercy and sympathy, prompting some to take action by raising funds and other forms of aid for the victims.
Yesterday, Digital Media Exchange Inc., an online games publisher in Southeast Asia, launched its own fund-raising drive for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy:

MU Online Season 4 Is Upon Us!

Good news for players and fanatics of MU Online. Digital Media Exchange Inc., the game’s publisher in Southeast Asia, has just launched MU Online Season 4, the latest update to one of the longest-running massively multiplayer online role-playing games in the Philippines.
Yes, MU Online is still alive and kicking, proving the game’s skeptics wrong. I’m not much of a fan of the game either, but I’m not one to put a game with a good fanbase down.
So what’s in store for loyal followers of MU Online? Well, aside from in-game promos like the “Meet the Chaos Fairy” and “MU Raffle …read more

Franktown Rocks: MMO for Your Kids

While we parents think our children are not only adorable but very intelligent little gremlins, there are just some things that are beyond those Einstein-ish brains of theirs. Take massively multiplayer online role-playing games, for example.
Oh, sure, I’ve heard and read about the three-year-old girl who can play World of Warcraft and the kid who beats the crap out of lazy adult players in player-versus-player matches. Heck, my little girl, who turned four years old this year, played Fly For Fun for a year before throwing in the towel. But do these wonder kids really play these games the way …read more

Wolf Team: Bringing Back Glory Days of FPS

It’s a good thing I installed Wolf Team, a new massively multiplayer online first-person shooter from Softnyx and mobiusgames, on another computer and not my usual gaming PC, or I’d be spending too much time fragging players from different parts of the world.
Oh, yeah, I had a good romp in the first hour after installing the darn game. My opponent had the good sense to ditch me by leaving our friendly Wolf Team match. Now comes news that mobiusgames has put Wolf Team on overdrive, and the game is now in full swing.
Maybe I should install it on my gaming …read more

Wolf Team Invades MMOG Scene

I know I promised some big articles in my previous posting on MMOtaku. I wasn’t kidding. But at the moment the big stories would have to wait just a little bit longer. I’m still in the process of refining them. Suffice it to say that they would be more about items, weapons and other equipment in massively multiplayer online role-playing games. I might also launch a new weekly feature. Stay tuned!
Well, now that the announcement is out of the way, let me turn your attention to the subject of the title of this posting. Good friend Eric Roceles, hardworking marketing …read more
