Flyff Machinima: Pudding and TGE Episode 4

Where we left off: Our young heroes are reunited after a spat when Mr. Obnoxious, also known as THEGREATESTEVER or simply TGE, discovers that Pudding beat him in changing into the first job in the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game Fly For Fun.
In the fourth installment of the hit machinima based on Flyff, we find Pudding and TGE beating the crap out of Wagsaacs outside Saint Mourning as they continue their adventures after changing into their first jobs—Mercenary for Pudding and Assist for TGE. Of course, THEGREATESTEVER is still clueless about how his job class works, mostly due to …read more

Fly For Fun Penya Hack? Don’t be fooled!

About a year ago, I posted an article and a video on MMOtaku that supposedly show how to hack the online game Fly For Fun to give your character a lot of penya, the in-game currency. The title says it all, “Fly For Fun Penya Hack!”
The video seems genuine, from a gullible person’s perspective, at least until you reach the end. This is the reason why I included a clarification in the article that states, “If you didn’t watch the video till the end, well, I’m sure that when I open my email tomorrow morning, I’ll have the account names …read more

Fly For Fun Philippines client won’t download?

Fly For Fun Philippines client won’t download?

I’ve been receiving a lot of complaints about how the download link for the Fly For Fun client on the Level Up! Games website won’t work or about the patcher not working, and frankly it’s getting on my nerves.
First, as I’ve said countless times, MMOtaku and b5media are in no way connected to Level Up! Games, publisher of Fly For Fun in the Philippines, and the game’s developer Aeonsoft. If you have a beef with the way Flyff’s being run, take it up with Level Up! or Aeonsoft.
Second, I have tried downloading the client, and it works fine. I downloaded …read more

AD&D fanatics in MMORPGs

AD&D fanatics in MMORPGs

You can spot them a mile away—fans of the classic tabletop role-playing game Advanced Dungeons and Dragons may be a rarity in the virtual worlds of MMORPGs, but if you’re one, you’ll know one.
Yes, as I’ve said countless times in the past, I’m a fan both of tabletop RPGs and massively multiplayer online RPGs. Despite spending hours upon hours of rolling dice, taking down notes, and pumping my mind to produce images and play out scenarios, I find the allure of playing tabletop role-playing games nearly irresistible. It’s too bad I don’t get to play anymore, since most of my …read more

MMORPG: The most favored game genre in China

MMORPG: The most favored game genre in China

Gee, why am I not surprised? Seriously now. I’m really not surprised that massively multiplayer online role-playing games is still the preferred genre of online games fanatics despite the fact that popularity of online fighting or battle games and music and dance games is picking up.
Here’s the lowdown from China-based online games portal 17173:
According to The Eighth China Online Game Market Survey, most Chinese players rated MMORPG as their favorite game genre, no matter their ages. For players whose age fall between 19 and 25, the percentage is lower, at about 78.3 percent. They are more for online battle games.
As …read more

Flyff machinima: Pudding and THEGREATESTEVER Episode 2

Flyff machinima: Pudding and THEGREATESTEVER Episode 2

I hate THEGREATESTEVER. He’s the very epitome of the noob player who thinks he knows more than others. Oh, wait, you don’t know who THEGREATESTEVER is. Okay, let me sum it up for you.
THEGREATESTEVER (grrr, hate all-caps names, even in-game ones) is the main character in a machinima series based on the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game Fly For Fun, or Flyff. The guy starts out fine, just like any new player out for a little adventure. His problems (or rather the viewers’ problem with him) starts when he begins idolizing Lee, a narcissist hell-bent to prove himself the …read more

Flyff machinima: Pudding and THEGREATESTEVER

Flyff machinima: Pudding and THEGREATESTEVER

I’m starting to love machinima—short for machine cinema—especially after viewing and reviewing this year’s entries to the Level Up! Live Film Festival. Well, we’re not here to critique those, for they already belong to the been-there, done-that files because they’ve been watched and talked about dozens if not hundreds of times already … at least locally, in the Philippines.
So I turned my attention to the Internet, poring over dozens of machinima videos that would fit the bill, for MMOtaku, that is. And I’ve found one of the best Fly For Fun-based machinima, Pudding and THEGREATESTEVER.
Here’s Episode 1. Take a gander …read more

Level Up! Live 2008 wrap-up

Level Up! Live 2008 wrap-up

Okay. Right after this I’m gonna stop writing about Level Up! Live because it’s making me a bit sick. Find out why here.
Anyway, overall, it’s been an amazing event, what with all the powerpacked competitions that occurred. Let’s count ‘em: Ragnarok World Championships, RF Online Novus Elite Squad, Perfect World Phoenix Council Wars, Fly For Fun Heroes of the Dragon Emblem, and Freestyle All Stars ‘08.
That’s five online games and five competitions, with the Ragnarok World Champions topping the list because it’s on a global scale, with a dozen teams from 20 different countries. Whew!
Sigh. To wrap up, I’m here …read more

Music that makes you Level Up!

Music that makes you Level Up!

Gosh, that reads so much like an advertisement tagline. *Shakes head furiously*
Anyway, I’m here to talk about the kind of sounds gamers go for while playing, or better yet, music that pushes you to level up.
A good friend, both online and offline, digs fast-paced, metal and rock and roll music while traipsing across the world of Roika. His reason? The background music, or BGM, of Fly For Fun is too toony, sometimes “girly.”
What’s ironic is, he plays a female character.
“I don’t really have anything against Fly For Fun’s BGM. I liked it the first few days I listened to the …read more

Florensia, finally, and not a moment too late

Florensia, finally, and not a moment too late

Ha, told you I’d get in! Now, my problem isn’t trying to get in, it’s doing my best to stay in the game. Let me explain.
As you may have noticed, my wife also plays MMORPGs, and it’s been quite a while since she has taken a liking to any of the new games I’ve been laying my hands on these past four or five months.
First, we rekindled our passion for our first MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. It was shortlived. My wife decided to keep playing Perfect World, leaving me saddled with the responsibility of leveling our twin Tika Waylans on Ragnarok …read more
