I mean that in a good way, of course. Is the title “With GMs Who Look This Great, Who Needs Games?” better? Ahh, of course, you need need to see photographs of these Cross Fire game masters to make an accurate judgment. Okay, feast your eyes on these images:

Egad! Time indeed flies so fast. Okay, I’ll keep this brief. It is, after all, just an announcement. For those who don’t know what ChinaJoy is, it’s China’s premiere video games expo, equal to the United States’ Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, and Japan’s Tokyo Game Show.
With that thought firmly in mind, let me guide your attention to the announcement story from China-based online games portal 17173:
ChinaJoy 2009 will be held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center between July 23 and July 26. The theme for this year’s event is to promote the international image of the Chinese game …read more

I’ve found an interesting article on the blog of good friend Mon Macutay, who works for Philippine online gaming giant Level Up! Games. The story, titled “40 percent of MMO Players are Female,” focuses the spotlight on the growing number of girl gamers in massively multiplayer online games, the health of players, and the emergence of MMO playing as the social activity of choice.
Here’s an excerpt from GM Tristan’s article:
We always thought that MMORPGs were dominated by male players. That “fact” is now being challenged. Well, according to a recent study by BBC, 40 percent of MMO players are female, …read more

Whew! What a year! Indeed, it’s been one hell of a ride for me and, hopefully, for MMOtaku’s loyal followers. What started out as a mote of light in fellow b5media Technology Channel blogger Jayvee Fernandez’s brilliant mind is now a good—not yet great (that has yet to come)—source of news for massively multiplayer online games in Asia and those made in Asia.
First off, I’d like to thank MMOtaku’s avid readers, those who visit the blog every day, those who come and go for a dose of MMORPG news, reviews and what-have-yous, and those who have dropped in just to …read more

If you’ve read the comments on my last post, the one about Zhu Xian’s great character path-find system, and are a fan or player of Granado Esapada in Southeast Asia, then you probably already know that pioneer NineMoons, also known as PJ Punla, is quitting, not only from playing the online game she adores but also from blogging about it.
Okay, yeah, so a player is quitting a game, it’s nothing new. Does it really merit a commentary from MMOtaku and other blogs that talk about massively multiplayer online games?
The answer is a resounding yes. Here’s the reason why:

Google Translate needs a little more work

Well, that’s why it’s in beta. Haha. Actually, I find nothing wrong with how Google Translate works, considering that languages are very complex. Changes in tenses and subject-verb agreement between two different languages make translation even harder.
I tried putting Google Translate to the test, and the result was hilarious. As expected, the translation from my native tongue of the song Chiksilog by Kamikazee into English was way off. Take a gander at the result:
What makes it hilarious is the difference in sentence construction between Filipino and English. For example, check out paragraph three, line two. It says, “Nagpolo pa ako,” …read more
Florensia: Saint photoshoot

Yeah, right. It’s more like a lady MMORPG player learning what else her character can do aside from gun down monsters with bolts of energy and walk around huge maps all day. Well, I have to hand it to my wife. She has probably explored more of Florensia in the past two days than my entire four days in this fascinating new world.
And to answer Alcarcalimo’s question, “Yes, we have two computers at home, but the other one’s crappy, and I can only install one MMORPG at a time on its limited hard drive.” At present, only Perfect World is …read more
