I know I promised some big articles in my previous posting on MMOtaku. I wasn’t kidding. But at the moment the big stories would have to wait just a little bit longer. I’m still in the process of refining them. Suffice it to say that they would be more about items, weapons and other equipment in massively multiplayer online role-playing games. I might also launch a new weekly feature. Stay tuned!
Well, now that the announcement is out of the way, let me turn your attention to the subject of the title of this posting. Good friend Eric Roceles, hardworking marketing director of Digital Media Exchange, has just clued me in on a new project their publishing division, mobiusgames, is cooking up.
Let’s go take a look at what DME and mobiusgames have in store for us gamers:

Wolf Team Deploys to the Philippines!
Digital Media Exchange’s publishing division mobiusgames and Softnyx have announced the deployment of Wolf Team platoons into online communities, Internet cafés and gaming computers across the Philippines!
Wolf Team is a free-to-play, action-packed, first-person shooter that features strategic combat and weapon systems involving human soldiers and wolf-human hybrids. Players may choose to play as humans with access to high-tech weapons and team-coordination or as transformed wolf-humans that can rip their enemy apart. A special channel has been created for Philippine players!
“We are very excited to work together again with mobiusgames and we have no doubt Wolf Team will be successful. Players in the Philippines will love this game,” said Kang Jihun, executive producer of Wolf Team.
Wolf Team represents the third MMOG partnership between mobiusgames and Softnyx following Rakion and Gunbound. Gunbound, published in 2004, remains one of the most popular online games in the history of the Philippine gaming industry. It was the first ever free-to-play game released in the Philippines, acquiring several million registered users and exceeding 30,000 concurrent users at peak. Rakion was published in 2006 and is a very popular action game, featuring aggressive third-person, player-versus-player combat and a continual flow of new content upgrades.
On paper (electronic or otherwise), Wolf Team seems like an exciting game indeed. In the words of Eric Roceles himself, “The story line is very interesting and unique among FPS games in the region. Instead of the typical, soldier-combat shooting games, this blends science fiction, genetic alteration and standard combat into a very compelling game.”
Well, here’s hoping that Wolf Team stands its ground against established MMOFPS.
