NBA Obsessed

After John Wall, who?

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.

It may not work out the way everyone is predicting, but at this point if the NBA Draft was tomorrow then John Wall of Kentucky would be the number one pick in the draft and would most likely end up playing in New Jersey. The most likely part is due to the fact that the ping pong balls usually put some other team in the number one slot, but for the purposes of this article we will suppose that things happen in reverse order of record.

The do it all John Wall

New Jersey has only 4 victories, but has tons of cap space. They could grab John Wall and put him beside Devin Harris and still have Brook Lopez and tons of money for a free agent. The beauty of the NBA is the possibility of the quick turnaround.

Peter May at Yahoo Sports highlighted 7 other college players in this order.

2. Evan Turner Ohio State

The 6-7 Ohio State junior’s name invariably comes up after Wall. He’s a do-everything guard who understands and plays all facets of the game. He also showed some toughness by missing only six games with a pair of fractured vertebrae (the Buckeyes went 3-3 while he was out.) He will have had three years in Columbus so he’s as NBA-ready as they come these days.

3. Wesley Johnson Syracuse 6′ 7″ The leading scorer for Syracuse.

4. DeMarcus Cousins Kentucky – Geez, how many awesome freshmen does Kentucky need? And this one is 6′ 10″ tall.

5. Derrick Favors Georgia Tech 6′ 9″

The 6-9 forward from Georgia Tech was one of the highest-rated high-schoolers last season, so he – like Wall and Cousins – will use college as a one-year training session. He’s an athletic, physical forward who could well move to No. 3. He won’t last much later than that if he doesn’t.

6. Cole Aldrich Kansas 6′ 11″ We have all seen this guy play and he is for real.

7. Ed Davis North Carolina 6′ 10″ You have to have a North Carolina guy going pro.

8. Al-Farouq Aminu Wake Forest 6′ 8″ Just a sophomore and a great rebounder.

It looks like a very talented year and my Detroit Pistons are in line to get one of these guys right now. Hey, is that some light at the end of the tunnel?

Orlando comes back to beat Boston

Orlando comes back to beat Boston

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Boston is surprising this year in that they do not have a fantastic home record. Cleveland has lost only 3 NBA games at home this year. Orlando has lost only 5 NBA games this year at home. The Boston Celtics have lost 9 games at home this year and essentially are the same at home as they are away.
Orlando Magic 96 Boston Celtics 89
Orlando came back from an eleven point deficit at halftime to win the game on Boston’s court.

35 points at half.
24 points in a row.
47 points 8 rebounds 8 assists for the game.
This is LeBron James.
Steve Nash is having a great year. Kobe Bryant is having a great year.
But is anyone playing better right now than LeBron James?
Granted, it is the New York Knicks playing the defensive side of the ball in this game and granted again the game is on Cleveland’s home court where the Cavaliers are 21 – 3, but still…35 points at half by one player?
LeBron James’ 35 points in the …read more

Stoudemire for Iguodala could happen

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
To set the scene you have a team that is winning and wants to part with one of their best players in a business move and you have a team that is losing and wants to part with one of their best players to just change things. That makes sense, doesn’t it?
Phoenix needs to let Amare Stoudemire go and go soon, because he turns into a wealthy free agent at the end of the year and Phoenix does not want to pay the max contract to an …read more

LeBron great? Debate the obvious

LeBron great? Debate the obvious

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
This kid is playing in Ohio and some fans think he is going to Ohio State or something, but he decides the NBA is a more logical step. He is 6′ 8″ tall and living in a man’s body and playing basketball like he is Michael Jordan only taller. His name is LeBron James. He is great. He is still in High School.
This writer was not so sure about the Superstardom thing with LeBron due to the fact that his outside shot was just …read more

LeBron and Cavaliers roll to 9th straight

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an easy one for number nine victory in a row. It was the Memphis Grizzlies a team that cannot and will not guard LeBron James, so LeBron decided to dish the assists to practice the Magic Johnson part of his game. Often with the Grizzlies putting double teams on LeBron the assist can go to a wide open player for an easy two.
These days the Cavaliers appear unbeatable and well on the way to capturing the home game advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs, …read more

Boston breakup is imminent

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
The Big Three is what they call them and there was a good reason for that and a NBA title to go with that reason. Now they might be called the big three salaries and are struggling to stay healthy enough to compete with the Cavaliers and LeBron James.
While LeBron is helping the Cav’s to 8 straight victories and 1st place in the Eastern Conference, Boston is clinging to a 4th place playoff spot record in the Eastern Conference, while maintaining first place in the pitiful Atlantic …read more

NBA All Star Chris Paul injures knee

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
It was supposed to be a great year for the Hornets full of expectations as Chris Paul continues to grow as the NBA’s best young point guard and the Hornets capture the talent laden Southwest Division, a group of teams that had grown old and needed a new leader.
The Hornets are 26 – 22 mired in 4th place 4 games back of the Dallas Mavericks and a half game out of playoff contention.

Pistons hard to watch

Pistons hard to watch

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
What is it about the NBA? All of my friends say the same things to me about how hard it is to watch the NBA. They don’t play any defense, forgetting those great Piston teams that lived on defense. The sad part is all of my friends are right. The Pistons just got blown out by Miami and they did not play any defense. Top it off; they did not play any offense.
The Pistons missed three-pointers, lay-ups, open jumpers and everything else, shooting …read more

Hawks may move Joe Johnson

Hawks may move Joe Johnson

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
The business side of the NBA turns normal situations into unpredictable outcomes where you may let one of your prime players go to another team right when you are on the verge of becoming a really great team. That is the situation that the Atlanta Hawks find themselves in with the trade deadline approaching and Joe Johnson heading towards free agency in the off season.
Joe Johnson has the Atlanta Hawks contending now in the Eastern Conference, but several league sources say they wouldn’t be surprised if the …read more
