Artest wants Adelman and Wells back, even if it means…

Artest insists he would play for free next season if it guaranteed the Kings would keep Bonzi Wells and coach Rick Adelman.
Wells, the Kings’ leading scorer in their first-round series, is a free agent on July1.
Adelman is in the final year of his contract, too, and Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof have given no hint to his future with the team.
“I’ll give up my next year’s salary to keep Bonzi Wells,” Artest said.
And Adelman?
“I’ll give him my salary, too,” Artest said. Source
Can the Maloofs use this statement as some sort of contract? I’d take Artest up on his offer in a heartbeat if I were the Maloofs. Sacramento can’t afford to lose Adelman and Wells was just awesome for the Kings this season. The fact the Kings made the playoffs this season, in spite of their struggles during the season, is a sign of their return to glory.
I’d say they made one heck of a “rebuilding” job after losing Webber, Christie and Divac. I doubt if the Kings would have been able to play this well without Adelman leading them. Aside from Bibby and Brad Miller, the starting five never played together before. This meant a lot of team chemistry issues. It takes a guy like Adelman who’s seen the playoffs a lot from his earlier days in Sacramento and his even earlier days in Portland where he coached Terry Porter and Clyde Drexler to the NBA finals. They need Adelman to stay!

Check out what others are saying about this post...[...] So just shortly after I wrote about how the Kings needed to keep Coach Rick Adelman he gets fired. After 8 seasons with the Kings, Adelman has established himself as the best coach the franchise has ever had. That’s big shoes to fill for his successor and I mean really big shoes. While I disagree on Adelman’s firing we can’t do anything about it, can we? So who’s next? [...]
