Bobcats Opening The Bank?

Charlotte Bobcats part owner and managing member for basketball operations Michael Jordan has seen enough of losing so he has recently opened up the bank to make the team better.

Charlotte acquired Jason Richardson (and $51 million in salary commitments) last week. This week, the Bobcats and Matt Carroll agreed in principle on a $27 million deal. And those around the Bobcats expect to re-sign Gerald Wallace very soon to a contract worth more than $60 million.

Matt Carroll was the most productive two guard on the team last season while Jason Richardson will really be a needed scoring punch for a team that lost many close games. Gerald Wallace was the team’s leading scorer and will be an important piece in the puzzle if the Bobcats want to reach the playoffs this season.

Wallace is an important guy but I’m not to sure if he’s worth that kind of money already. Ben Wallace signed $60 million contract last year with the Bulls but he can command that kind of money since he’s was an All Star for so many years was a major reason why the Pistons won the championship in 2004. Again I’m not sure if the G-Force is worth that much. The reason why I’m worried is because this is the same kind of trap the Knicks fell into before, signing mid-level talent to horrendous contracts and having to deal with it until now.

Of course if the J-Rich/G-Force combo works out. we’re in for an exciting season from the Bobcats, especially if Adam Morrison can also contribute to the offense the way many people thought he would when he was drafted.
