Bobcats to Hire Charles Oakley

There’s news out that the Charlotte Bobcats will hire former NBA player Charles Oakley to be part of their staff. Oakley will be given a position in the Bobcats organization that is still yet to be announced.

This staff hiring decision smells strongly like the work of Michael Jordan. You see MJ and Oakley are “best buds” that go way back to when they played together in the Chicago Bulls. MJ was very vocally upset when the Bulls decided to move Oakley to the New York Knicks for center Bill Cartwright in 1988. The move did the Bulls a lot of good though because it gave the Bulls a legit center. Fast forward to 2002. MJ was with the Washington Wizards where he was an executive (he drafted Kwame Brown in 2001. Eek!) and then he returned to playing. Guess who comes over as a player too. Oakley! Now Oakley will be part of the Bobcats staff. Tell me who’s a part owner of the Bobcats – MJ!

Man, it really seems that where MJ goes Oakley is sure to follow soon after. Cronyism? Well that depends on the job Oakley is going to do. It’s still too early to judge.
