Dallas wants Rasheed Wallace

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.

The trade rumors are heating up and Mark Cuban would love to have Rasheed Wallace.

The Pistons continue to fade with Allen Iverson, but Joe Dumars isn’t expected to try to find a new home for his star guard.

Rasheed Wallace could be another story. According to one Eastern Conference executive, the Pistons will take calls on Wallace. One team mentioned as a potential destination is Dallas.

“That’s a ‘Mark Cuban move,’ ” said an Eastern Conference executive. “Cuban would take Rasheed, no question. It would be bold, but he knows he’s got to do something to spark his team.”

Cuban tried that last season when he acquired Jason Kidd, but ended up making a mistake by giving the Nets Devin Harris.

The Mavs don’t appear to have enough to get Wallace. And the Pistons would like to use Wallace’s money – along with Iverson’s – to create enough cap space to make a run at LeBron James and/or Chris Bosh in two summers.

Let us put this one in the farfetched column, but it is no doubt that Joe Dumars would move Wallace for the right offer.

As always, any NBA Basketball related comments are welcome.

I think that Rasheed would be a good fit for Dallas. He would make the center position better for us. He is a good shot blocker, he can play defense, he can post up, he can shoot the 3. Yea he gets alot of techs, but i think Dallas needs that toughness. Because Brandon bass plays center and he is undersized. And Wallace has a ring can’t doubt that. Ever since we lost Dennis Rodman who didn’t stay much long, we haven’t had guys that will back up Dirk, or anybody else when Dirk gets punked. Wallace would be that guy that will be relentless. If you look at Kevin Garnett and how he gets into everybody’s face and trash talks them. Garnett gets into fights with everybody. We need somebody that will get back into Garnett’s face and do the same.

Hard to see this deal going through. What could Cuban give up that the Pistons would want? Rasheed has to be seen nightly to really appreciate how good he is.

  3. Ryan says:

Me thinks that Joe D. will try and move AI and Rasheed at the deadline in a blockbuster deal.

    Me sure hopes so.

That would be fun. Rasheed has to go due to declining production, so either he is let go at end of year or traded now. Iverson is on a free tryout and plays well with the full court running second team. His salary is so high, that he will most likely be let go as well.
