NBA Obsessed

Iverson to Knicks, but Brandon Jennings not

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.

And now for the untold story of what happened and what may happen to the New York Knicks. It appears that the New York Knicks in their infinite wisdom, oops, make that finite wisdom, passed on Brandon Jennings after several workouts, even though they could see the obvious talent of a young point guard that could shoot from the outside.

Recently NBAObsessed wrote about the 55 point effort by Brandon Jennings.

The Knicks wasted their pick on Jordan Hill, who in spite of the Jordan in his name, is spending most of his time on the bench instead of playing on the court.

These are the same Knicks that have tried to get rid of every player on their team in order to clear salary cap for the great LeBron sweepstakes. Now personally NBAObsessed would love to see LeBron playing for the Knicks, because then he would not be torturing the division where my favorite team, the Detroit Pistons, happen to reside.

What has happened to the once proud New York Knicks franchise? You would think the Garden would be a fabulous place to show off the talents of LeBron James and maybe, just maybe, having a young hot guard like Brandon Jennings would have went a long ways in getting James.

Allen Iverson courted by the Knicks

Allen Iverson courted by the Knicks

Allen Iverson

So what are the Knicks attempting to do? They are going to plan B or more like plan D or E and attempting to pick up Allen Iverson. But he is a Grizzlie you say?

Now the Knicks are considering signing Allen Iverson after he cleared waivers on Thursday. It’s the surest sign of desperation in the NBA. There’s nothing left with Iverson, just fading hype and a sure-bet soap opera to come.

Yet, that’s what Donnie Walsh’s front office has become – potentially picking through the Memphis Grizzlies’ scrap heap in search of a pulse of excitement to fool the fans.

So this is how you show LeBron you’re a viable destination? This is how you demonstrate you have the shrewd basketball minds capable of building a winner around him?

Contemplating Allen Iverson?

NBAObsessed recently wrote about the troubles of Allen Iverson.

New York “the city” and New York “the team that has such importance to the NBA” has so many intangibles to be used to recruit LeBron James, but New York “the team” seems to be working to drive LeBron away.

Re: Author James Edwards short piece on Delonte West’s battle with Bi-Polar disorder.

Mr Edwards, I am either really irked, or stunned, or potentially ludicrous, you pick the adjective, by the way that religion, religious words, and religious symbols are being interjected upon subject matter and audience’s that neither expect to read it, OR contemplate it no matter the humanitarian objective the particular symbol was intended for.

In the case of Delonte West’s problem there are a significant portion of reader’s who read your admonition that ‘the prayer’ could potentially be of benefit to Mr West. But, there are reader’s like myself who say the author might as well have suggested for Mr West to stand on one leg in the living room as he rubs his stomach in a circle with his right hand while simultaneously rubbing the top of his head in a circular motion with the left hand AND hum the William Tell Overture with a paper-sack over his head for the good suggesting that PERHAPS WE SHOULD EACH PRAY FOR MR WEST. Obviously, that had been tried already by the family and those who should reasonably feel the compassion for a loved one where it is appropriate to consider Super Natural intervention, behind closed doors and among loved one’s. “The Prayer” obviously has not worked, it never works because there is nothing to pray to AND anyone who claims to know otherwise could probably use a little of whatever Doctors are giving to Delonte West.

Aside from the ridiculous belief that it does any good, it is socially inappropriate to suggest we all bow our heads and pray in a pluralistic multi-cultural society because there are TOO MANY different, and opposing views on these matters for the bleeding heart sports writer from “Starlite, Indiana” OR where ever to spring that rabbit on his readers.

Perhaps in the future Mr EDWARDS, a simple suggestion that, “we all keep Delonte in our thoughts” could serve the same thoughtful purpose AND avoid the RIDICULOUS question of God, & The Devil and the entire Old time Religion debate that has NEVER solved one thing. I wish it were the year 3009 because I really BELIEVE the human race will have out grown fairy tales, and be well on it’s way to becoming really, truly compassionate toward one another, and have dropped empty expressions like, perhaps we should ALL Pray for poor Johnny.” Gag me. Dog Bless you Mr Edwards, I really have nothing against you…

Excellent comment and even though it felt like you were shouting at me with the Mr EDWARDS stuff, it all made a great deal of sense. But please bear with me and let me explain…My own personal experience with Cancer led me to realize that people that wanted to pray, prayed, those that wanted to keep it me in my thoughts, did that, want to give money, do that. The point was everyone wanted me to get better and that makes for a better world, the fact that people cared.
The prayer thing does not totally work for me either, but that was not the point.
    Anyway, certainly appreciated your comment.
