Memory Lane: Backboard Breakers

Out of boredom I wanted to see the footage of the two backboard breakers: Darryl “Chocolate Thunder” Dawkins and Shaq. Being a relatively recent fan of the game and youtube and such websites coming out just recently too, I never saw the clips… until now. I just want to share it with you guys. For those like me who haven’t seen it, prepare to be shocked! For those who have, it will be a fantastic trip down memory lane.
Darryl Dawkins shattered the backboard twice in his NBA career, the second time just a few eeks after his first. I couldn’t find individual footage so you’ll have to watch it within this top 10 dunkers clip.

Shaquille O’Neil breaks the backboard unintentionally back when he was a member of the Orlando Magic. Shaq’s comment about the incident:
“I’ve hit them harder than that before, a lot harder than that. I was a little surprised, but when it started coming down, I ran the other way”.
I wonder when the next backboard breaking incident will occur….
i doubt it will happen this time . they have made the basket crash proof !
