The Portland Trailblazers were the busiest team on draft day but it’s clear to us all that the Toronto Raptors are having the busiest offseason of all teams. The arrival of former Suns GM Bryan Colangelo and the Benetton Treviso’s GM Maurizio Gherardini as the team’s VP and assistant GM has brought with it a lot of change for Toronto Raptors. One of the league’s perenially worst teams over the years, now is the time the Raptors are getting a major overhaul
The signing of Slovenian forward Uros Slokar, who was the team mate of Andrea Bargnani in Benetton Treviso and also the Raptors’ 2nd round pick in 2005, is latest of the Raptors’ additions to improve the team. This fills the team with a LOT of former Euroleague talent to build around star Chris Bosh: Jorge Garbajosa, Anthony Parker, Jose Manuel Calderon, Rasho Nesterovic, Andre Bargnani, and Uros Slokar.
Hopefully with this major overhaul and additions the Raptors will be able pull themselves out of the losing habit. In his column in Hoopshype.com, former NBA player Eddie Johnson has this to say about the Raptors now.
How do you feel about my Raps at this very moment. Are they a playoff team?
– Andrew WilliamsonEJ: The Raptors could garner a bottom seed in the weak Eastern Conference. TJ Ford will be expected to push the ball and find scorers like Bosh and Mo Peterson. The jury is out. Source
This ought to give Raptor fans something to look forward to.

Ever since Carter left Raptor fans left with him. Chris Bosh is an excellent player on an crummy team. I like the fact they picked up TJ Ford but they need an good reliable guard. Mo Peterson is okay but not reliable. Raptor fans are happy they got the first pick but if he don’t give them at least 14 points, 8 rebounds and don’t hit that outside shot that everyone talks about. It’s going to be an long season.
