What were they thinking?

So there was J.R. Smith standing next to Bryant Wednesday night, yapping away.

Bryant grinned. Then he took the ball and Smith to the rim, bumping the Nuggets guard back as he banked in a tough layup and collected the foul. Bryant simply shook his head as he stepped to the foul line and swished the last of his 49 points.

source

You just do not want to make Kobe angry. He reacts.

Unable to guard Bryant, they choose instead to anger him. Kenyon Martin ran his mouth on Sunday and Smith followed by opening his Wednesday. Bryant punished them both, along with everyone else the Nuggets threw at him, leading the Lakers to a 122-107 victory that gave them a 2-0 advantage in the teams’ first-round playoff series.

Kenyon Martin thought he had done a masterful job on Kobe in game one and talked about it constantly. Kobe did not take too kindly to that.

Bryant naturally didn’t see it the same way, and he didn’t need long Wednesday to show why, scoring 20 points in the first quarter alone. He made 10 consecutive shots during one stretch as the Nuggets shuffled through defenders, moving from Martin to Linas Kleiza to Smith.

“The way he was going,” Allen Iverson said, “we could have put 10 people on the court and probably not been able to stop him.”

The next two games are in Denver and the Nuggets better wake up and close their mouths.

NBA Basketball special comment What is Denver thinking bragging about holding Kobe to 32 or yakking at him during the game. Kobe Bryant will eat you alive.

As always, any NBA Basketball related comments are welcome.

Denver 168 Seattle 116
Yeah, that was the score with no overtimes.
Denver, a pretty much all offensive team anyway, put on a show against Seattle, a pretty much non-defensive team anyway.
The Nuggets had eight players score in double figures, led by Carmelo Anthony’s 26 and Allen Iverson’s 24. Martin had 23 points and Marcus Camby had a triple-double with 13 points, 15 rebounds and a career-high 10 [...]
Post from: NBA Obsessed

Denver had a 48 point first quarter.

They won the game by 52 points.

The Nuggets had 44 assists.

Get this, Halftime Score 84 to 58.

What an unreal game.

Now back to reality. Denver has to play Detroit. There will be no 168 points scored in that game.

Welcome to the Hit and Run of NBA Basketball, where power and brute force are pitted against speed, athleticism, and grace in the never ending struggle for the NBA Championship!

Greg Oden was supposed to turn the Portland franchise around. Instead he finds himself sitting at home for the upcoming season.

He was with his mother at home when he found out how serious it was.

“I kinda looked at my mom and said, ‘I’m out for the season? You kidding me?’ ” he said.

Oden will be on crutches for six more weeks. Full recovery likely will take six to 12 months. He has started swimming, and a machine gently bends his knee for six hours a day. source

Next year, if Greg is fully recovered from micro fracture surgery, you will see the true power that he displayed at Ohio State.

But for now he sits.

He had spoken to Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin, who have had micro fracture surgery and they warned him not to rush back.

Oden averaged 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds last season as a freshman at Ohio State, despite being hampered by a wrist injury. He led the Buckeyes to the national championship game, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the loss to Florida.

Greg, as usual, is trying to keep a level head and concentrate on getting ready for next year.

The NBA will have to wait as well.

NBA Fan Question Have you witnessed the power of the Oden?
