The NBA, Rambis, and the T’Wolves

The NBA, Rambis, and the T’Wolves

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Kurt Rambis was originally drafted by the Knicks and ended up playing for several teams, but is best known for his stints with the Lakers in L.A.
Rambis is the man with the goggles. That is how we will always remember him. Kurt averaged around 5 points and 5 rebounds for his career, but that is not what his career was all about. Rambis epitomized hustle and would make himself a pest to the other team. He was like a mad dog that …read more

Bill Laimbeer likes Kurt Rambis

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
No, this is not the time to start singing some song about Bill and Kurt sitting on a tree or something like that. It was just a surprise that Bill Laimbeer liked anyone in the whole world, let alone a former Los Angeles Laker and former agitator like Kurt Rambis, but he does and he admits it freely.
Kahn interviewed Laimbeer for the head coaching position that eventually went to Rambis. In a surprising move, Laimbeer decided to take a job working under Rambis after losing out on …read more

No NBA for Ricky Rubio

No NBA for Ricky Rubio

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Ricky Rubio is lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves and won’t be coming to the NBA anytime soon. GM Kahn did not deliver Rubio and you have to wonder how that affects his job status.
Ricky Rubio agreed to a 6 year deal with Regal FC Barcelona and there is no NBA out clause until 2011. The TWolves can kiss him goodbye at least for now. Not sure the exact rules, but it appears Rubio will someday be a TWolve.
Rubio, 18, apparently won’t play for the T’wolves …read more

Kurt Rambis hires Bill Laimbeer

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Bill Laimbeer came out of the California high school system as a center and played at Notre Dame. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. After playing in Italy for a season, Bill returned to Cleveland and played two years before being traded to the Isiah Thomas led Detroit Pistons.
While playing for the Pistons, Laimbeer teamed up with Rick Mahorn to win a NBA title and develop a reputation for meanness on the court. One of his favorite moves on post defense was to swipe …read more

Minnesota needs Ricky Rubio

Minnesota needs Ricky Rubio

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Now if you live in Minnesota and you have now gotten past the will Brett Favre play for my Vikings or not and you are long past the Do we really want an ex-Packer as our quarterback and now you are ready for the Ricky Rubio escapade.
You see, Ricky has some splainin to do. All you young non-Lucy fans will have to excuse the old time reference, maybe go ask your Mom what that means. Just why did he enter the draft if he did not …read more

McHale brought in wrong personnel

McHale brought in wrong personnel

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
The Timberwolves have made a number of player moves this off season and will be a completely different team and hope to soon add a new coach. It will be a National Basketball Association team makeover and it won’t come without some hard feelings.
It seems that there was good reason for Kevin McHale, the old GM and Coach, to hit the road or none of this makeover would have happened.
Taylor told The Associated Press on Sunday that the financially motivated trades Kahn has made this summer that …read more

Ricky Rubio wants out of Spain

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
What a tough choice for Ricky Rubio. He wants to go to the NBA right now. No waiting for Rubio. The NBA bargaining agreement prevents the Minnesota Timberwolves from contributing more than 500k to the buyout that Rubio will have to pay to leave his team in Spain.
This leaves Ricky with a huge bill to leave his team. 6.6 million bucks.
He could leave for another team in Europe and that team would not have any pay restrictions and could just pay the buyout. …read more

Quentin Richardson packs his bags again

Quentin Richardson packs his bags again

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Won’t anybody just keep this guy? What is he a travelling salesman or something? Quentin Richardson was traded again and again. Quentin Richardson has been traded 3 times in just recent history. First on draft night from New York to Memphis, then from Memphis to the Clippers, and now from the Clippers to the Timberwolves.
Hey, is it possible to belong to all the crummy teams in one year? It is amazing when you think about it.
The Clippers added 3 nobodies in Telfair, Craig …read more

Randy Foye to Wizards, picks involved

Randy Foye to Wizards, picks involved

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Ok, forget the five players involved in the trade. Randy Foye, so what. Mike Miller, likes to shoot. Etan Thomas, can rebound a little. Think more on the picks. Minnesota now has both the 5th and 6th pick in the upcoming NBA draft 2009. Think about the possibilities.
For the Timberwolves, they now own both the fifth and sixth picks in Thursday’s draft. With Foye now on his way to D.C., it’s safe to assume Minnesota will likely draft a point guard …read more

Kevin McHale broomed by Minnesota

Kevin McHale broomed by Minnesota

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
One shining night Kevin McHale put up 56 points on my beloved Detroit Pistons. Well, it was one shining moment for Kevin and the Celtics. The man was unstoppable. He had a step under move that was brilliant and a turn and fade that could not be blocked and with Big Chief Parrish and Bird surrounding him up front, you could not double him.
The Pistons know this to be true, because on that night they tripled him. Did not matter. 56 big ones.
Kevin …read more
